I was inspired by some paper collages I saw on a social media site, and decided to try something similar. I’ve been very pleased with the results!
Woodland Edges was inspired by the iris and other spring plants along the bank of the creek that runs behind our house.
Container of Flowers grew from a sketch of a bowl of petunias and other annuals. I wanted to contrast the clean lines of the man-made bowl and table with the organic shapes of the plants.
Lavender with Bees illustrates the lavender that grows in my pollinator garden, which is visited almost continually by honeybees that live in the woods behind our house.
Aunt Wanda’s Garden was inspired by a short story of mine, titled “Kentucky Wonder Beans.” The story is published in Best of Ohio II, an anthology of short works of fiction.
Bee Tree is a reminder of the very busy honeybee colony that lived for several years in a hollow walnut tree behind my home. A strong storm in the spring of 2018 brought the tree crashing down and the bees moved away.
